Welcome to our website and blog about our project and green infrastructure in general. 

 

Our project is one the 16 pilots funded by SynchroniCity, the European IoT Large Scale Pilot for Smart Cities and Communities.

In the next 6 months we will open data and sensors to monitor health of green roof vegetasjon and use our own models and analytics to control water reservoirs nearby.   

This solution will be integrated in a Smart City context, using Fiware IoT reference architecture.

In a nutshell

RainBrain uses the full spectrum of IoT to maximize green roofs’ impact, reduce plant mortality and reduce urban flood risks by controlling reservoir capacity.  

 

we use open weather data, sensors, actuators, predictive analysis and simulation models to monitor health of vegetation, watering needs and optimise rainwater storage capacity

The project

RainBrain will be installed and tested on 10 green roofs in Antwerpen (Belgium) and Eindhoven (Netherlands).

As part of the project a web-based app will be developed to share experiences and engage with citizens.

Partners

The project is funded by SynchroniCity under the EU H2020 umbrella.

  • Greenbeat (Norway)

  • Agilis (Norway)

A total of 11 people are involved developing he smart blue - green roof.
